Vidya Balan wins National Award for The Dirty Picture


Bollywood sexy diva Vidya Balan has won the National Award in the Best Actress category for her performance in “The Dirty Picture”. The official announcement of the awards was done at the 59th National Awards on March 7 in the capital.

Brilliant performance of Vidya as the south sex symbol Silk Smitha in the Milan Luthriya’s “The Dirty Picture” has already wooed the audience. She has won many prestigious awards earlier for R Balki’s ‘Paa’ and Vishal Bhardrwaj’s ‘Ishqiya’.

Director Onir’s ‘I AM’ was declared the best Hindi film while the Amitabh Bhattacharya won the best lyrics award for the song ‘Agar Zindagi’ in the film. SRK’s film RA.One was named for best special effects and Harry Hingorani and Keitan Yadav won the award for their fantastic work in RA.One.

The best actor honour went to Marathi actor Girish Kulkarni for the film ‘Deool’ – a Marathi movie that shared the best feature film award with ‘Byari’. Gurvinder Singh from Punjab won the best direction award for his movie ‘Anhe Ghorey Da Daan’.

The names of the award winners were revealed by the jury, consisting of actress Rohini Hattangadi amongst others. The award ceremony would be held on May 3, 2012.
