The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced the appointment of senior TV journalist, Pankaj Pachauri as new communication advisor in the PMO (Prime Minister Office). 48 years old Pachauri has been the managing editor of NDTV India.

Pachauri has more than 20 years’ experience in print and broadcast media. He had earlier worked with the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) in London, Patriot, Sunday Observer and India Today. He had won many awards, including ‘The Statesman Award’ for Rural Reporting and the ‘Srikant Verma Award’.

Pankaj Pachauri replaced well-known journalist Harish Khare. 65 years old Harish Khare resigned on Thursday after working more than two years in the PMO. Khare told that he had sent his resignation to the Prime Minister and thanked him for the opportunity to work under him.

Pankaj has been appointed to stem the tide of negative publicity that the government and the PMO received in recent months, from the CWG scam to the 2G scam.
