Shanti Bhushan, team Anna member, a former Union Minister was found to have the evaded of duty stamp for the tune amount of Rs. 1.35 crore. In the purchase of the prime property in Allahabad he was fined for stamp duty on Friday. As on outstanding amount of Shanti Bhushan the fine of Rs. 27 lakh was charged.

K.P. Pandey, Assistant Stamp Commissioner commented that Shanti Bhushan has paid amount Rs. 46,700 so far on the purchase of the property which is widely spread out in the 7,818 square meter in the posh civil lines area. He has 1.5% interest from the month of November dated 29, 2010 and he was asked to pay the remaining outstanding amount on or before January.

Mr. Pandey added that if Mr. Bhushan fails to pay the remaining amount this month then the department will charge sheet against him. Until he moved on to New Delhi he stayed in the bungalow which was built on Shanti Bhushan’s land since 1970. Nevertheless he was so strong that he did not give up upon the possession of the property and also on the “agreement to sell” in the November.

The department and the officials claimed that the stamp and registration by the veteran lawyer showed up for the paltry sum on the purchase of the property which the understate value on which the stamp duty will be announced to be payable and it was calculated to be as Rs. 46,700. However they said that the initial notice on February 2011 was sent to Mr. Bhushan regarding the payment on the stamp duty.

Nevertheless Mr. Shanti Bhushan said that there is no evasion of stamp duty is there from his part. Shanti Bhushan has joined in the Anna team member and he been good at his service and also he was a former Union Minister.
