Pakistan has released an Indian Army chopper just five hours after it strayed into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on Sunday. An Indian Air Force (IAF) chopper was reportedly forced to land at Skardu sector in Pakistani administered Kashmir for allegedly violating the Line of Control (LOC) ceasefire. The four-member crew was taken into ‘military custody’ and questioned by Pakistani authorities.
The Cheetah helicopter was flying from Leh to Kargil and was gone missing from Sunday morning due to bad weather. Pakistani authorities informed Indian Air Force at around 1 pm about the detentions of the officers. The Indian army sources said that the helicopter returned to Kargil in J & K around 6 pm.
Pakistani military spokesman Major-General Athar Abbas told, “The chopper and 4 officers on board returned around 5:30 pm after a contact between the director-general military operations of the two countries.”
According to the Indian military officials, the helicopter landed safely in India. The pilot error forced the helicopter to stray across the LOC that divides Kashmir between Pakistan and India. The chopper carried a junior commissioned officer, two pilots and an engineer officer of colonel rank.
